Alternative and Electrified Vehicle Propulsion Systems
The lecture covers fuels and their properties. Furthermore, the production of fuels is discussed and the use of alternative fuels in internal combustion engines is illustrated. In the consideration of alternative working cycles, the thermal energy conversion is clarified.
Electrochemical energy conversion is covered in the form of fuel cells and lithium-ion batteries. Theoretical fundamentals, individual components and systems are considered.
The lecture is held in cooperation with the Institute for Automotive Engineering (ika). The ika deals with alternative powertrains on the vehicle level and highlights the structures of alternative powertrain concepts, storage systems as well as energy and torque conversion.
