Institute for Combustion Engines (VKA)
At the Institute for Combustion Engines (VKA) and the Center for Mobile Propulsion (CMP) under the direction of Prof. Dr.-Ing. (USA) Stefan Pischinger, research on all topics concerning the vehicle powertrain is conducted. Core focus is still the research on conventional combustion engine development like the implementation of innovative engine designs, fundamental research on more efficient combustion processes also in combination with alternative fuels or the improvement of the engine mechanics and aftertreatment systems. Additional research areas include virtual engine development, hybrid powertrains, electromobility as well as fuel cells and mechatronics for combustion engines. At any time research is closely associated with the ongoing development of intelligent methods for test procedures and engine calibration. The Institute for Combustion Engines employs more than 260 scientific, technical and administrative employees as well as student assistants.
- University degree (master or comparable) in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with core focus on process engineering, controls, design or electronics
- Basic knowledge in the area of fuel cells
- Experience in the field of fuel cell system simulation ( H2, air and/or cooling ) is desired
- Knowledge of simulation tools, e.g. Matlab/ Simulink and GT Suite is beneficial
- Experience with experimental test setups and control systems is desired
- Good computer skills
- Fluent in English
- Ability to work independently
- Creative, flexible and team-oriented
- Dipl.-Ing. Mechanical Engineering with the specialization in process engineering / control engineering / construction technology (m/f/d)
Dipl.-Ing. Electrical Engineering with the specialization in power engineering / electrical systems (m/f/d)
- Development of test systems for fuel cell systems for a powertrain, on-board power supply and a combined heat and power coupling system for the energy supply of buildings
- 0D/1D fuel cell simulation for the design of the fuel cell test systems
- Simulation on fuel cell system and vehicle level
- Functional development of fuel cell systems (e.g. for media supply or in special operating situations such as freeze startup)
- Functional development of automation and controls for test systems (e.g. hybrid strategy, optimization methods)
What we offer
The successful candidate will be employed as a regular employee.
The position is to be filled as soon as possible and limited to 2 years . An extension up to 4 years is provided.
The standard weekly hours will be 39,83.
The successful candidate has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree in this position.
The salary corresponds to level EG 13 TV-L.
